The finishing touches…
I finished recording and mixing with Pat last week! 4 new songs! We’re just making last tweaks on the mix now and soon will be mastering it. Gabe Nelson also came in and laid down some amazing bass parts on the songs (he’s a self-professed “bass ligament expert”
). He really gelled the tracks together. We recorded his bass through the Avalon U5 with an original LA-2A tube compressor. Sounds amazing. I’m so happy with how everything came out.
I meant to upload this sooner, but here's a look at where I recorded vocals (you can still sort of see all of the mics we tried out setup) as well as where we recorded electric guitars. There's the good ol' Vox!
In the mixing stage, we had a wonderful selection of outboard gear in Pat’s arsenal. We used four original Pultecs, two LA-2A’s, a Neve 1073 on bass and a Neve 1081 on acoustic guitars. My vocal chain was through a Pultec, through an LA-2A, through an 1176 and then through a Federal Limiter. The Federal Limiter is an old limiter from the US Army used in the 1950′s. We ran the guitars through Pultecs as well.
Can’t wait to get these tracks mastered!!

I love the scarf and short sleeve shirt look. You must have picked that up from your visit to the country of Schizonavia…
